Gino Kerkhoffs isprofessor of Orthopedic surgery and Sports trauma at the University of Amsterdam. He was also trained at the University of Amsterdam in The Netherlands, graduating in 1999. He then worked at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam under the leadership of Prof. Marti and Prof. Van Dijk finishing his specialist training in 2006. Thereafter he spent 2 years working as an Orthopedic and Trauma surgeon in the Kantonsspital St. Gallen in Switzerland with Prof. Kuster. In 2008, he returned to the Department of Orthopedic surgery at the Academic Medical Center, at the University of Amsterdam in Amsterdam as a Chief Consultant for ankle and knee surgery (soft tissue as well as replacement), arthroscopy and sports traumatology. In 2009, he was selected for the AOSSM-ESSKA Sports Medicine Travelling Fellowship. His research work focuses on ankle and knee joint pathology including ligament injuries, arthroscopic techniques and cartilage repair, sports injuries with special emphasis on muscle injuries and stress fractures, teaching including arthroscopic simulation techniques. Gino is co-Founder and co-Chair of the Amsterdam Collaboration for Health and Safety in Sports (ACHSS) as well as the Academic Center for Evidence based Sports medicine (ACES). He is the current President of the Dutch Arthroscopy Association (NVA) and the Scientific Program Chair of the European Society for Sports traumatology, Knee surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA).
